MEET THE SCIENTIST Our next Lecture is Wednesday, November 7 at 7 pm at the JHS Auditorium. The topic is: Mind Control: From Brain Bugs to Big Brother with Michael Yetman, Ph.D., Max Planck Florida. The event is open to everyone and is free! No doubt this is going to be an immensely enlightening presentation. Look forward to seeing you there.

SENIORS interested in learning more about the George Snow Scholarship Fund should sign up in the guidance office by Nov. 12. The George Snow Scholarship Fund Representative will be on campus on December 4 at 9:15 am to meet with seniors interested in applying for their scholarship and to review the application.

ROTC Donation Drive from Nov. 1 to Nov. 30. We are collecting items in support of fighting poverty, hunger, and homelessness within our community. Community service hours will be given. All donations will go to local organizations. Please bring the following items to the ROTC room: Canned and non-perishable food items, Baby products, Feminine hygiene products, New or gently used clothing, Used or gently used toys.

GOOD NEWS, SENIORS If you have not taken your senior pictures, Prestige Portraits will be on campus in the gym lobby on Wednesday, November 7 to take your 2019 yearbook pose. You must make an appointment with Mrs. Muncy to be photographed. The cost is $25 to be paid at the portrait session. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Muncy in room 4-203 during 4th or 5th period.

GREEN LECTURE SERIES Today Elana Axelband, JHS grad, opening One World Zero Waste, a store coming to Tequesta, will be our guest speaker in the Media Center during lunch, all are welcome!

ATTENTION SENIORS AND JUNIORS Herff-Jones will be back on campus November 9th to take your class ring orders. Herff-Jones will be set up in the back of the cafeteria for all of your class ring and graduation announcement needs! You can also visit their website at: www.herffjonespalmbeach.com to place your orders.

CLUBS

CHESS CLUB Anyone who likes to play chess, meet in the Media Center at lunch.

THE NATIONAL TECHNICAL HONOR SOCIETY will have a mandatory meeting Wednesday, November 7th, at 2:50 pm in room 4-214 for new candidates seeking membership. The new candidates need to complete the NTHS Online Registration using the link from NTHS sent to their personal email.

STONEMAN STRONG meets today, November 5 at lunch in Rm 4-103. Remember your officer forms and $20 dues! There will be snacks. See you then!

SPORTS

TENNIS MEETING Any girl or boy interested in trying out for tennis needs to attend a brief meeting on Tuesday, NOVEMBER 13TH right after school in room 4-109. Paperwork will be given out. Any questions, please see Coach Lang in Rm 4-107 or Coach Babcock in Rm 4-212.

ATTENTION STUDENT ACES Ms. Jalm has your TLEs for your meetings at Keiser University. Please see her between 7:15-7:45 in the atrium by the tardy kiosk or stop by her classroom 3-108 prior to lunch to pick yours up. These are due to Ms. Jalm today (11/5).

THE NEXT JHS BLOOD DRIVE will be on Monday, November 12th. All students 16 and older can donate. Lunch signups will be all week in the courtyard, or just come to Miss Ellis room 4-118 to sign up. If you donate you will receive community service hours, a free blanket, and free pizza. Come donate blood and save a life!

SGA NEWS

Students don’t forget that if you would like to make suggestions to help better the school then go ahead and put your suggestion into the suggestion boxes located in room 4-217, the media center, and student services.

SGA would also like to congratulate this week’s Teacher of the Week – Miss Ellis. She is a biology teacher for the Medical Academy. Her students say she is kind and is always willing to help them if they have any questions. You will always catch her with a smile on her face. Thank you Miss Ellis!

Students if you would like to nominate your favorite teachers for teacher of the week, the boxes are located in room 4-217 and guidance. Just fill out the nomination slip and drop it in the box.

SGA will be hosting a project for Alzheimer’s Awareness this week. Purple wristbands will be sold for $1 in support of research to cure this, so find an SGA member to get one. SGA will also be hosting a benefit night at Burger Bar on Donald Ross on November 7th starting at 6pm and the band RTO will be performing. SGA will receive a percent of the proceeds which will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association. SGA will also be hosting a trivia game November 9th during lunch in the JHS courtyard. Come learn about Alzheimer’s Disease and get prizes for all the questions you get right.

Congratulations to this week’s Athlete of the Week: Aidan Alexander. He is a sophomore on the JHS football team. He is a good student who always has a great attitude and is very respectful. Congratulations, Aiden.

SGA is hosting a change drive the week of November 12th-16th during lunch. All of the proceeds made will be donated to the Forgotten Soldiers Outreach to show support for our veterans and soldiers. Monday we will be collecting pennies, Tuesday we will be collecting nickels, Wednesday will be dimes, Thursday will be quarters, and Friday the AP’s will be collecting dollars, so be on the lookout for the most patriotic AP’s and bring all your change!

Don’t forget to vote if you’re over 18 and have a great day off tomorrow, Warriors!
