CLASS NEWS

STUDENTS, as of right now we ARE NOT recycling plastics due to a contract issue. We encourage you to bring your own reusable water bottles and utilize one of our 15 newly installed water stations located in every hallway! The Green School Initiative Club’s project was completed over winter break with generous donations from multiple clubs, including the Class of 2018! Thank you for your support.

MEET THE SCIENTIST, DR. MADINEH SARVESTANI, MAX PLANCK FLORIDA On Wednesday, January 9 at 7 PM. Her lecture is Brain Maps: Top Ten Ways Your Brain is like New York City.

PROJECT GRADUATION – There will be a volunteer meeting to set up a new committee and find a new Chairperson for Project Graduation in the media center on Thursday, January 10th at 6 pm. Parents from ALL grade levels are encouraged to attend. Students, please tell your parents to put it on their calendar. Parents from ANY grade level can meet to support the project, not just seniors.

FREE DRIVER’S ED Sign up now at the Guidance Cart during lunch. A few spots are still available. The informational meeting will be on Thursday (1/10) right after school in P6 for anyone signed up or still interested. If you have any questions, see Coach Stone (P6).

CLUBS

THE RMHC CLUB’S contest for first period classes with the most pull tabs are due Friday (1/11) to Rm. 4-116. The tabs help families pay for their housing while their children are in the hospital. The FIRST PERIOD CLASS WITH MOST PULL TABS WINS BREAKFAST

SPORTS

FOOTBALL – All those interested in playing Football next year must be lifting after school each day if you are not involved in a Winter or Spring Sport. The Weightroom is open Mon.-Fri. 2:45-4:00pm. Any questions, please see Coach Tharp, Coach Fleury, or Coach Kenerson.

TENNIS IMPORTANT DATES Next Meeting: Tuesday, January 15. If you plan on trying out, this meeting is MANDATORY. We will be collecting all paperwork and going over what will be expected for tryouts. The meeting will take place in room 4-109 right after school. Please make sure that you have three required pages NOTARIZED before submitting your athletic forms along with your $10.00 try-out fee (checks made out to JHS). No cash!
January 22 (Tuesday) – 1st day of tryouts.
April 15 – 20 – District Tournament.
April 23 & April 25 – Regional Tournament.
April 29 – May 3 – State Tournament.
