Dubois Park along the Jupiter Inlet is a fun and relaxing place to visit over Spring Break.

Spring break begins March 18 for Palm Beach County students and teachers. If you don’t have any plans to travel, consider making the most of your break from school by enjoying local activities.

Jonathan Dickinson State Park

Open 365 days a year, this state park is the largest in southeast Fla. The park has activities ranging from biking and hiking to paddling and fishing. The park charges fees of $6 for two to eight people, $4 for a single-occupant vehicle or motorcycles and $2 for pedestrians, bicyclists and extra passengers. Another activity available in this state spark is camping. Camping can either be in trailers or in traditional camping tents.  While camping, you can still enjoy all the amenities, and hopefully enjoy multiple activities a day.

Brightline to Miami

If you want to skip the hassle of traffic and parking in Miami, take the Brightline train from West Palm Beach to downtown Miami. Brightline is a fast, inexpensive way to get to Miami, and from the train station, it’s fast and convenient to take an Uber to your destination. Popular places to visit are Miami Beach, Wynwood Walls and the Miami Art District. Many of the main attractions in Miami are within walking distance of each other. The train ride is an hour and 15 minutes with one stop in Fort Lauderdale. Prices range from $10-$35 depending on the amenities.

Hutchinson Island

Just one hour north of Jupiter is Hutchinson Island, a beautiful destination with lots of fun activities. Take a horseback tour at Frederick Douglass Memorial Park, located on south Hutchinson Island. Reservations must be made in advance, and it’s $40 for a one-hour horseback tour. If you’re looking for a trendy and healthy place to grab a bite to eat, check out Ital Bowls, a food truck servicing Hutchinson Island. Ital Bowls is known for its delicious acai bowls, pitaya bowls and smoothies. The beautiful beaches offer slightly different scenery from the Jupiter beaches we’re used to and can also be enjoyed by the public.

A day in Jupiter

The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse is located on the north side of the Jupiter Inlet. Tickets for adults are $18 and for ages 6-18 are $6. After climbing to the top of the lighthouse to check out the breathtaking views, stop at a nearby restaurant like U-Tiki or Guanabanas. Or, if you have a craving for a delicious hamburger or hot dog, check out Ale House, Dune Dog Cafe or Burger Shack, all just one mile away from the lighthouse. You can also visit Jupiter Outdoor Center for paddle board and kayak rentals.
