Easter falls on a Sunday each year, sometime between March 22 and April 25. Good Friday precedes Easter Sunday, and students in Palm Beach County do not have school that day, April 19. Jesus was crucified and nailed to a cross so Good Friday is a day set aside for Christians to remember and mourn Jesus’ death.

Every year on Easter morning, Holy Spirit Lutheran Church holds a sunrise service at the Juno Beach Pier. After the service, families sometimes go to breakfast.

There will also be an Easter egg hunt held at the Jupiter Community Park softball fields on April 20. The event is family friendly and will include bounce houses, face painting, arts and crafts and photos with the Easter Bunny. Participants must bring their own baskets to hunt.

“Easter is a big deal for my family because I have two younger sisters who love to wake up to Easter eggs hidden around the house,” senior Veronica Rojas said. “After they find all the eggs and their Easter baskets we go out to a nice breakfast.”

On April 21, thousands of locals will celebrate Easter in a variety of ways, including attending Easter church services, Easter egg hunts, and Easter lunch or dinner with traditional foods.

Easter is a Christian holiday that celebrates the belief that Jesus rose from the dead after three days of being in a tomb behind an almost immovable boulder.
