The first round of the NBA playoffs started on April 13, and came with no upsets. This year’s playoff also came without its star player LeBron James, for the first time since 2005. The favorite to win the Championship this year is the reigning champ, the Golden State Warriors.

Eastern Conference teams that progressed into the second round include the Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors, Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics. The Bucks swept the Detroit Pistons 4-0 and the Celtics swept the Indiana Pacers. The Raptors beat the Orlando Magic 4-1 and the 76ers beat the Brooklyn Nets 4-1.

Western Conference teams that advanced into the next round are the Golden State Warriors, Denver Nuggets, Portland Trail Blazers and the Houston Rockets. The Warriors Beat the Los Angeles Clippers 4-2 it was a big surprise that the Clippers won even two games against the “super-team.” The Nuggets cut it close beating the San Antonio Spurs 4-3. The Trail Blazers beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 4-1, despite their huge victory in the series the Thunder were favorited. The Rockets beat the Utah Jazz 4-1 as well.

The second round started on April 13 and consists of matchups between the Bucks and Celtics, Raptors and 76ers, Warriors and Rockets and the Nuggets and Trail Blazers.

The Warriors vs. Rockets matchup is interesting because last year they played in the Western Conference final. The Rockets, led by James Harden, drove the Warriors to a game seven matchup to advance to the championship and win the west. The Warriors won in the end, but the series will be intense because of their ongoing rivalry.
