THE PSAT will be given on October 16th for all 9 & 10th Grades and registered Juniors. Juniors may purchase tickets to
take the PSAT for National Merit Scholarships this week during lunch in the guidance office. Cost is $17 and only checks
made out to Jupiter High School will be accepted. No cash! A Picture ID is required to purchase tickets.

SENIORS We’re in the middle of the college application season. Know your deadlines for getting applications in. Most
Florida Universities have November 1st as a priority deadline. If you are using the Common Application or another
application and you need your counselor to do part of the application you must have it to them by Oct 15th to meet the
November 1st deadline. If you need a recommendation letter you must get a resume to your counselor. Do not
procrastinate! If you have any questions, come to the guidance cart during lunch.

SOPHOMORES Attention class of 2022: We need your help to construct our homecoming spirit-mobile building! If you’re
interested in being a part of the parade, please come to our meeting in Mr. Day’s room 6-207 Tuesday, October 15,
immediately after school! Any questions see Mrs. Jeffs or Mr. Day.
SPANISH COMPETITION TEAM The first meeting for all members is today (Tuesday) in room 5-105 after school. Please
bring your dues and signed permission slips.
JUNIORS & SENIORS Applications for the Social Studies Honor Society are available in room 5-112 OR through your Social
Studies teacher. ONLY juniors and seniors NOT already in Social Studies Honor Society need to apply. SENIORS, To be
considered a returning member you had to have been accepted AND attended the 1st meeting LAST year – If you were
not at that 1st meeting last year then you are NOT a member and MUST reapply. Applications are due by October 31st
and should be returned to the box in Guidance. Email or see Mrs. Hanssen in room 5-112 during lunchtime or between
classes with any questions.
DANCE MARATHON FUNDRAISER Friday after school, Key Club will be selling Chick Fil-a sandwiches for $6 while raising
money for the Dance Marathon which is largest philanthropy project on campus: Dance Marathon raises money for the
Children’s Miracle Network @ Shands Hospital The Dance Marathon Event will be held toward the end of February. Last
year we raised $34,000 and this year we are expecting to exceed that amount. So bring your $6 on Friday and on your
way out of school, buy a Chicken Sandwich and HELP US RAISE MONEY for Children’s Miracle Network!!!
INTERACT CLUB’S HAUNTED WALK Today’s Interact meeting for all prospective and current members is in the cafeteria
right after school! Don’t forget you must join Interact by this month’s meeting in order to attend the Haunted Walk on
October 18th. There will be NO wristbands sold at the door.
TRICK OR TREAT FOR UNICEF JRC is fundraising for Unicef and collecting donations for kids in need. You can help by
filling a Trick or Treat for Unicef box with spare change or cash. For filling one box you can receive 2 hours of community
service. Get a box in Ms.Plageman’s room 7-113 or from Mr. Hagenbuch the Physics teacher.
SOCK DRIVE JHS Latinos In Action, SWAT and the Homeless Coalition of Palm Beach County are collecting socks for our
homeless neighbors. Socks are one of the most needed items among the homeless. Healthy feet = a healthy body!
Please help by donating a new pack of socks. One community service hour will be given per 6-pack of socks. Drop off
socks before school from 7- 7:15am in the courtyard until 10/15. Please bring a Community Service form from guidance
with you.
STUDENT ACES will meet in the gym during lunch today (Tuesday) for team building activities.
CONGRATULATIONS to the Boys and Girls Swim and Dive Team. Both the boys and girls placed second in the Palm Beach
County swimming and diving championship this past weekend. Outstanding performances by Leila Glowka and Tyler
Coffey – both placed 1st in the diving event. Heidi Smithwick placed first in the 50 freestyle and second in the 100
breaststroke. The boy’s swim team of Tre’v Monroe, Caleb Petranchuk, Josh Curtis and Nick Gallego broke the School in
the 400 Freestyle Relay. Tre’v Monroe broke the school record in the 100 freestyle and placed second in the 200
Freestyle. Caleb Petranchuk Placed 2nd in the 100 butterfly. Nick Gallego Placed 2nd in 200 individual medley. Great
team effort by everyone.
TENNIS MEETING For all interested players is on Tuesday, Oct.29th in Room 4-106 at 2:45.
WRESTLING conditioning will begin Monday, October 14 right after school on the track. We will be done by 4pm at the
latest. To participate you MUST have turned in your CORRECTLY COMPLETED physical packet to Coach Raz in room 4-
109. Without it you will sit out. Congrats to JHS graduate and wrestler/football player, Brennan Hunt at his Senior Ring
Ceremony at The Citidel this weekend!
GIRLS SOCCER Tryouts will start October 21st after school at Jupiter Community Park. Athletic Eligibility forms and the
$10 tryout fee must be turned in to Ms. Jalm by October 17th. If you have questions, see Ms. Jalm in 10-112.
PHYLLIS RESSLER GOLDBLATT, Child of Holocaust Survivors, came to Jupiter High School last week to retell her mother’s
story of survival. Thanks to all those who attended and were so respectful. Special thanks to Ms. Girouard’s Holocaust
Studies students who presented Ms. Goldblatt with a giant handmade card and flowers. The full presentation can be
