Junior basketball player Veronica Edwards was athlete of the week for the week of Nov. 18.
“Being athlete of the week is quite an honor and is really awesome,” Edwards said. “I have been playing basketball since I was eight years old.”
Along with basketball, Edwards is also on the bowling team. Edwards is the manager of the school store, member of the prom committee and is apart of the One Tribe Club.
“With being apart of the school activities that are provided, I enjoy meeting new people and helping out. Playing sports and participating in so many extra-curricular activities, takes up almost all of my time,” Edwards said.
Edwards is also an officer in the DECA program.
“We raise money so members who can’t afford to go on trips or afford to compete, are given the chance to do so. I help organize socials, which are events where our members are able to network and get information about competition and other upcoming events,” Edwards
Edwards said balancing her school work, extracurricular activities and social life is challenging at times.
“To be honored with this award is an amazing thing and it shows that I am handling everything perfectly,” Edwards said.
