CLASS NEWS
WARRIORS — today is the day you have the power to choose the nominees for the My Teacher My Hero Award at JHS!
As soon as these announcements are over, you will all receive a link to click on in your school Gmail account. Open the
email titled “My Teacher My Hero 2020” and click on the Google form link. You will see all of the categories and teachers
to choose from — just make one selection per category and hit SUBMIT!! YOU have the power here!! Teachers with the
MOST nominations will be selected to represent JHS in each category and the nominees will be announced by the end of
the week. Digital nominations are only open Monday and Tuesday this week!
CONGRATULATIONS To the nine playwrights submitted by Mr. Barfield to the 2020 Palm Beach Dramaworks Young
Playwrights 10-Minute Play Contest who are now finalists: Alexa Currao, Barrett Vargas, Jeanna DelVecchio, Jenna
Mather, Allison Dobuler, Jane Montgomery, Grace Wodar, Briali Mori, and Carlyn Serpone.
ATTENTION JUNIORS AND SENIORS A college representative from Florida Gulf Coast University will be on campus on
Tuesday, February 18, at 9:30 a.m. On January 30 the college rep. from FAU Honors College will be in the Guidance
office at 8:45am. Sign up in the guidance office if you would like to attend either of these information sessions.
JHS WARRIOR CHORUS is selling JHS UV sun shirts to help fundraise for their upcoming competition in NYC. The shirts
are $40 each, and are designed by local artist Melissa Rinaldi. Please see Mr. Moore or any chorus member if you are
interested in purchasing a shirt and supporting the chorus!
SENIORS! The annual Universal Studios and Island of Adventures Grad Bash is Friday, April 3. The total cost of the trip is
$140. Mrs. Heard is collecting payments now. Pay a $25 non- refundable deposit by Friday, February 14, to reserve your
seat on the bus with the remaining amount due Friday, March 6. You can also pay for the trip in full before February 14.
Payments can be made at schoolcashonline.com. Beginning Tuesday (1/14) there will be a senior table in the atrium
from 6:50 – 7:25am where you can pay your dues, pay for Grad Bash, ask questions or whatever you need. The table will
be there every Tuesday for 6 weeks.
JUNIORS interested in representing JHS in the Annual Girls & Boys State Conference can pick up an application in the
Guidance Office. The Conference allows delegates to participate and familiarize themselves with the process of forming
local, county and state-level governments, plus gain an understanding of how political parties work. JHS Representatives
will receive an all expenses paid trip to Tallahassee where they will tour the capital and stay on campus at Florida State
University. Each delegate has the opportunity to receive three hours of college credit. See Mrs. DeCabia in guidance
with any further questions.
CLUBS
THERE IS A DRAMA CLUB meeting Tuesday (1/14) in the auditorium after school until 4:15. We will be discussing the
Pippin Auditions and technical positions available for Pippin. There is an audition for the spring musical Pippin January
27th from 2:45 to 5 pm after school. You must prepare 16 bars from a song in the style of the show. There is also an
opportunity to audition a Shakespeare Monologue and Sonnet January 24th after school. See the call boards outside Rm
9-111, or see Mr. Barfield with any questions.
KEY CLUB is selling discounted SF Fair tickets through Jan. 15 in Mr. Hammett’s P1. 10% of our sales goes directly to
Children’s Miracle Network @ Shands Hospital. ($20 Ride Voucher tickets. $10 Adult Ticket, $7 Senior Tickets, $5
Children Tickets, $99 Mega Saver (4 adult, 2 ride vouchers and $20 food vouchers)
SPORTS
TENNIS REMINDER You have until January 16th to turn your paperwork in to Coach Babcock in room 4-212 or Coach
Lang in room 4-107. January 16th is your final day. January 21st is the first day of tryouts (but your packet will not be
accepted then).
FLAG FOOTBALL Conditioning begins Tuesdays and Thursdays immediately after school and will continue until tryouts
begin. Meet in the stadium in the stands. You will need to have a completed athletic eligibility packet on file before you
can condition, and you will need to be dressed to run. Official tryouts will be the week of January 27.
ESE BUS FUNDRAISER We just want to say thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has been sharing and donating for
these kids. WPTV even shared the story on the news with our own Richie Pergolizzi Class of 2009 Graduate as the

SGA NEWS
FUNDRAISERS: Today (1/13) SGA will be hosting a paddle yoga at 3pm at Blueline – it is $25 to paddle. On Jan. 17 SGA is
hosting an ice skating fundraiser at (Palm Beach Skate Zone) from 7:30pm-11pm. It is $15 to skate, bring friends!!
Our Athlete of the Week is senior Robbie Preisendorf. Robbie is a wrestler who placed 1st in the Santaluces Holiday
Tournament. Robbie has 4.4 weighted GPA and plays in three sports!
Our Spirit Team of the Month is the wrestling team!!
Our Teacher of the Week is Mrs. Roulette, she is always caring about her students.
