THE BRIANA MARIE COX FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP upcoming deadline is February 28 for any high school senior who,

SAT SCHOOL DAY All Juniors and some seniors will be taking the SAT, free of charge, on Wednesday, March 4. The
school-day testing eliminates the cost of the exam ($46-$60), and the burden of getting to the test site for 4+ hours on a
Saturday. Passing the SAT fulfills a graduation requirement for students who do not pass the 10th grade Florida
Standards Assessments (FSA). Free preparation for the SAT is available on Khan Academy and Gale Testing and
Education Reference Center in your Portal.
PALM BEACH STATE COLLEGE has 2 upcoming events. Students can RSVP to either event by responding to this email

Wednesday February 19, Building/Room: SC 154 from 5:30pm-7pm. Do you want to apply to Palm Beach State College
or for Financial Aid? Come to our Future Panther Night where our staff can assist you through the process. If you wish to
fill out the FAFSA make sure to create FSA ID’s and bring your parent’s 2018 taxes. For Freshmen, Sophomores, and
Juniors: Dual Enrollment Open House at Palm Beach Gardens Campus on Tuesday, February 18 in Meldon Hall (BB 111)
from 6-8pm. PBSC and the Palm Beach County School District has partnered to provide students with an exciting
opportunity to earn college credits while in high school and save thousands of dollars in college tuition. Come and learn
PROJECT GRADUATION FUNDRAISER Final Reminder: Deadline to purchase CHICKEN DINNERS to support Project
Graduation is this Friday (2/24). Please consider purchasing for your family or donating a dinner (or two) if you aren’t
able to join us at the Masonic Light Lodge on 2/23. Dinners are $12.50 and can be purchased easily online at

THE JAPANESE CLUB meets this Friday (2/14) in room 6-115 after school.
BEST BUDDIES will be decorating cookies today (2/13) . Stop by room 7-110 on your way to lunch to meet with your
buddy to decorate your cookie. Feel free to stay and eat together.
HOSA There will be a meeting this Friday morning at 7:00 in room 7-106 for all HOSA students attending the state
conference. The meeting is mandatory.
THE BEYOND BREAST CANCER CLUB meets today (2/13) during lunch in room 7-101. Come to learn about this month’s
fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen foundation and how you can help.
BOB ROSS CLUB The first informational meeting is today (2/13) during lunch in room 8-103. There will be snacks and
drinks. Leadership positions will be available. Come find out more about our club.
DECA is partnering with Youth Crisis Center of Jacksonville to support their efforts to build a healthier community. We
are accepting donations of toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, bar or hand soap, shaving cream, razors, mouthwash and
towels. One hour of community service will be given per 10 items donated. Bring Donations and your community service
form to Mrs. Preston’s room, 4-106. (til 2/21)
CONGRATULATIONS to the Varsity Girls Basketball team for a very successful season finishing 18 and 8 on the season.
The team lost to Palm Beach Lakes in the district finals. Junior Elliana Manzo scored a season-high 20 points to lead the
lady warriors. The lady warriors will travel to play Boca Raton High School Thursday night at 7:00 in the state playoffs.
THE JOHN RAICH MEMORIAL is this Friday and Saturday. We will be hosting a 34 team-wrestling tournament starting
around 2:30pm Friday until about 8:30pm. On Saturday, wrestling will begin at 9:30am. Admission for students with
their JHS ID is $3 per session. We hope to see you there! Some of the top wrestlers in the state and in the country will be
STRIVE 5 FOR THE HIVE Allamanda Elementary School is hosting a 5K walk/run that takes place at the Gardens Mall on
March 8th. Race starts at 8am. It will be lots of fun. There will be a DJ, Digital Vibez will present, all registered runners
will receive a breakfast at Brio Tuscan Grille, a dry fit race shirt (for the 1st 300 registered), designer medals, & age
category awards. Proceeds go to Allamanda Elementary Health and Wellness. Sign up at Active.com
While working as an eighth grade English teacher in Prince George’s County, Maryland, Elizabeth Acevedo fielded a
question from a student that made her think differently about the poetry she’d been writing for most of her life: “Where
