SPEECH & DEBATE Over the weekend, we had a number of debate placements at our tournament.  Lily Miller and Kelly Gibbs placed 2nd in Public Forum Debate. Jillian Dettman placed 5th and Yitzak Given placed 6th in Congressional Debate.  Stefanie Henriques placed 4th in Lincoln Douglas Debate.  Reese Barrett broke into semi finals for Congressional Debate.  Special thanks to Jackson Beecher and Abbie Barrows for judging.

SECME The Society of Electrical, Chemical and Mechanical Engineers Club will be having its first meeting after school in room 3-101 on Wednesday, Nov 18th. Come if you are interested in competing against other schools in a design competition this year. We are excited to see you there!

DUAL ENROLLMENT Students interested in the Program, Palm Beach State College is offering a Virtual Dual Enrollment Open House via Zoom on Wednesday, December 2nd from 6-7:30 pm.  The open house will provide interested families and students with information about earning college credit while in high school and the benefits of the program.  Families will have the opportunity to ask questions. The event will count towards the mandatory orientation requirement for students who are new to the dual enrollment program. WINTER GUARD AUDITIONS The band is holding Winter Guard auditions Wednesday, November 18th, from 5- 8pm in the band room, 8-103. Please wear comfortable clothes to dance in. There is no experience necessary! Anybody can join! Please join the remind by texting @sojst to 81010.

JUNIORS AND SENIORS interested in being a part of the Social Studies Honor Society – If you have a 3.0 semester grade average in EVERY Social Studies course taken, a 3.0 overall GPA, and no out of school suspensions, you can apply! Online applications are available on your social studies teachers’ google classrooms. Hard copies can be found in Mrs. Hanssen’s room, 5-112. All hard copies must be turned into the front office bin or to room 5-112 when completed. If you are a senior and were accepted last year, you DO NOT need to reapply. Applications are due by 2:40 pm Friday Nov. 20th.

SPEAK UP FOR KIDS Is putting together 15 baskets filled with essentials for kids in need. For every $10 of items donated, 1 community service hour will be awarded through the Speak up for Kids and Guardian ad Litem Foundation. Bring all sealed and unused donations to Rm 6-207.
