Charlie and Joe’s at Love St. has become a favorite among locals and visitors alike, not only for the sweeping views of the Jupiter Inlet and Lighthouse but also for the new restaurants and seafood market. 

Charlie and Joe’s features three restaurants: Lucky Shuck, Beacon and Topside at the Beacon, as well as a seafood market, The TackleBox Seafood & Seafood Co. 

Lucky Shuck offers a variety of seafood like oysters and “fresh catch of the day,” with prices ranging from $12 to $36. Beacon’s menu offers steaks, pastas, and raw and chilled seafood dishes with prices ranging from $20 to $45. Topside at the Beacon is less expensive, with prices around $13, and features charcutería, wood-fired skewers and churros to enjoy with live music. 

“The food and atmosphere there is great, and [it is] very visually appealing,” Robert McNally, a Jupiter High sophomore, said. 

Locals and out-of-towners have flocked to the new area for the food and the view. 

“With the view of the Inlet and lighthouse on the rooftop at Topside you can’t beat it,” Daniel Vaz, Jupiter High ESE teacher, said. “I would definitely go back.”

Vaz agrees with John McNally, who was involved in the construction of the seafood market dock, about the unbeatable views. 

“Being on the Jupiter Inlet gives a local feel for being on the water,” McNally said. 

It is not only the view that is important to patrons and visitors but also the atmosphere of the restaurant and the service offered to them. 

“It’s a great environment filled with hard-working local people that provide amazing service to our guests,” Nick Lanier, leading bartender at Lucky Shuck, said. 

In addition to the overall vibe of the new Love St. complex, one distinct feature is the rooftop restaurant, offering sweeping views of the Jupiter Inlet. 

“I would say what makes Love St. different and unique is the fact that they have a rooftop restaurant,” Vaz said. 

The rooftop restaurant, Topside at Beacon, is one of the few of its kind in the area. The Tacklebox Market also has a dock for fresh catch to come in directly from the ocean that the restaurants can use for their menu and that guests can buy. 

“The restaurants on Love St.…have access to the fresh fish via a fish market at the end of the dock,” McNally said. “Fishermen can come and sell their fish, and the restaurants and anyone else can buy them.” 

While Love St. is proving to be a successful attraction, the construction was controversial at first. There were community and local concerns about the increase of congestion in the area because of traffic and parking. 

“I’ve always really liked the old Love St. area because it feels like classic Jupiter,” Andy Mook, Jupiter High graduate and teacher, said. “It was quaint and not overdeveloped. Now, it just seems really congested.”

Not everyone agrees with the expansion of the area, but Lanier believes the new complex will have positive impacts in the long run. 

“Progress and change are never easy, no matter how beneficial,” Lanier said. 

Lucky Shuck is open from 11:30 a.m to 11 p.m Monday through Sunday. Topside is open Monday through Thursday from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m., 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Fridays and 11:30 a.m to 1 a.m Saturday and Sunday. Beacon is open from 5 to 10 p.m Monday through Sunday. Beacon is reservation only, so make sure to call ahead to reserve seating.
