Charlotte Emma Aitchison, famously known as Charli XCX, is an English singer and songwriter originally from Cambridge, United Kingdom. After starting her career in 2008, the global popstar, recently increased in popularity following ‘Brat’ characterized by a mix of arial font and lime green.
On April 17, 2024, Charli XCX and Troye Sivan, fellow singer and songwriter, announced a joint North American tour. Lasting roughly over one month, the duo will be performing 22 shows in 21 different cities across the U.S.
The two hour “Sweat” tour was brought to two cities in Fla., Miami on Oct. 5, and Orlando on Oct. 6.
“I went to the Miami date on the fifth. I really enjoyed it, it was so much fun,” Celia Moon, senior, said.
Charli XCX released a new album on Oct.11, titled “Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat” featuring collaborations with fellow artists such as Ariana Grande, Kesha and Shygirl.
TikTok creator Kelley Heyer created a choreographed dance routine to “Apple,” one of the hit songs on Charli XCX’s album “Brat”. Her popular dance turned into a concert ritual where a staff member will pick an audience member during the performance of the song “Apple” to display on the big screen doing the popular dance.
“When I heard ‘Apple’ come on I saw everyone run back to their seats, like we needed to see it. It was super cool, everyone was dancing together, that community was fun to experience,” Moon said.
Tickets for the ‘Sweat’ tour have been available for purchase on numerous different ticketing platforms such as Ticketmaster; months prior to concert dates.
The ticket prices range depending on each arena and city, so fans can be expected to pay roughly around $50 to upwards of $700.
Around 11 million people are likely to be ticket scammed in the U.S. annually. Using box office main ticket distribution sites like Ticketmaster can lower chances of getting scammed when buying event tickets.
“I got me and my four friends tickets on Ticketmaster, it was pretty quick. I’ve been a fan of Charli forever so I got tickets before the album blew up,” Moon said.
The “Brat” lifestyle or Y2K and Party Girl aesthetic are enjoyed by Gen Z and millennials alike.
Fans that attended the concert expressed similar feelings of “FOMO” or the fear of missing out after attending the concert, often following the tour to another city.
“I enjoyed it, it was so much fun. The experience overall was a blast,” Moon said.
