Homecoming was held on Saturday, Oct. 26, with the theme being ‘A Night in Rio’. The week leading up to the dance was a spirit week filled with many exciting events and dress up days.
To start off the homecoming week on Monday, Oct. 21, there was a pep rally held in the gym, which included performances from the dance and cheer team.
“We practiced around 6 hours every week for 2 months straight just to prepare for this pep rally,” Keagan Spenceley, member of the Jupiter Dance Team, said. “We put in a lot of time and effort to try to show off our hard work to the school.”
The pep rally also had many games to watch including musical chairs, a fashion show and finish the lyrics.
“I thought the pep rally was really good,” Mia Rogers, sophomore and SGA member, said. “The games were fun to watch and the performances were amazing.”
Starting off the week was class color day, followed by tacky tourist day, soccer mom vs BBQ dad day, anything but a backpack day and generation day.
“My favorite outfit to dress up as was BBQ dad vs soccer mom day. I was a soccer mom and it was really fun to take pictures with all my friends who were BBQ dads,” Rogers said.
On Friday, Oct. 25, there was a homecoming carnival held before the football game. Many different clubs had a booth at this carnival where they hosted games to promote their club.
“My favorite part of the carnival was definitely watching people get dunked in the dunk tank that Mr. Ciliento held,” Searra Sikora, freshman, said.
Soon after the carnival, the football game started.
“I felt the spirit of our homecoming football game was definitely stronger than previous games,” said Spenceley.
This game had a large attendance of students showing school spirit by wearing pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
“The atmosphere at the homecoming game was great and the amount of people wearing pink was great to see,” Rogers said.
Following the Jupiter dance team’s halftime performance, Homecoming court winners were announced, with Jake Grubba winning Homecoming King and Rylee Fox winning homecoming Queen.
To end the night Jupiter defeated Palm Beach Lakes with a score of 46-0.
“The football game was fun to watch because it felt like everytime I looked up something cool was happening. It was one of the more eventful games that I have watched,” Sikora said.
On Saturday, Oct. 26, the homecoming dance was held. Starting at 7 p.m. the dance lasted until 10 p.m.
“I had a lot of fun at the dance with all of my friends,” Spenceley said.
Many students enjoyed the environment of the dance with fun photo spots, a DJ and many colorful decorations.
“SGA put in a lot of effort to make this homecoming week possible, and I enjoyed the fun activities they provided, especially the photobooth at the Dance,” Sikora said.
