New school year, new fashion trends
With the new school year comes new fashion trends, like wearing backpacks instead of purses, retro shoes and summery tops.
Instead of last school year’s high-end purses, students are sporting more backpacks this year.
“I like wearing a backpacks because it does not hurt my shoulders, and I can fit all my stuff in the compartments,” said junior Skylar Short.
Even though students have hopped onto the backpack trend, some Warriors are loyal to their purses.
“I choose purses over backpacks almost every day, because they are cuter, trendier, and they go with almost every outfit,” said junior Valentina Veloza.
Retro shoes like Converse and Vans are also making a comeback. This is very different compared to the classic Tory Burch Miller’s sandals of last school year.
“My Vans have lasted since sixth grade,” said junior Harriet Jung. “They are my favorite pair of shoes and a very iconic sneaker.”
Another fashion trend is summery tops, but on campus, these shirts need to follow dress code. Trending styles such as tube tops, tank tops and backless tops are prohibited on campus. These shirts have to be covered with a cardigan and cannot expose the midriff. As well, shorts and skirts have to be three inches above the knee.
“I tend to dress very different [outside of school] because I love expressing myself through my fashion choices. I mix girly, elegant and retro with punk pieces resulting in my ideal style. I find it very important to show myself through what I wear,” said senior Nikol Peeva.

While this is an interesting article, it tends to focus all on female fashion. I’m interested in what are some of the fashion trends for guys. What are they wearing these days? Basically, I’m asking because I am a 50 year old man with a deep desire to dress like a 15 year old.
