Wrestling team heads to regionals
Jupiter High’s Wrestling team won against Dwyer High School at the district duals on Jan. 5, securing their path to regionals on Jan 12.
The boys are satisfied with their placing in their recent competition.
“I’m just really proud of [the team] and what we accomplished last week with getting the district dual win,” Sean White, sophomore, said.
Nathan Smith, wrestling coach, kept his expectations high but the team exceeded them.
“We are at peak form and the guys really exceeded expectations. So it was really exciting,” Smith said.
Ian Wolski, senior, is confident in their abilities and has been working with the team nonstop to achieve their wins.
“The teams worked really hard and I have confidence that we will do a good job at regionals,” Wolski said.
Wolski, having been on the wrestling team throughout high school, is excited to go to regionals.
“It’s bitter sweet, I’m going to miss [the wrestling team] for sure,” Wolski said.
The team is coming together and sharing tight bonds with one another.
“It’s fun when you have a big support team like we have here. It’s a really fun program and I really enjoy doing it,” White said.
Wolski is enjoying the connections him and other teammates made this season.
“I enjoy the family bond that [wrestling] creates by going to tournaments,” Wolski said.
Smith is happy for his team and the outcome this season gave them. He is looking forward to coaching in the future at Jupiter high.
“These guys are great, really good kids. Huge turnout. I’m excited for the future at Jupiter high school,” Smith said.
White has kept motivated this season by his teammates and will continue to take joy in his teammates’ excitement.
“When you see your team’s smiles when you win. Seeing the smiles on my teammates’ faces when we won districts was a lot of fun,” White said.
