Ms. Elissa Thompson, Advisor
Elissa Thompson, the War Cry and creative writing teacher, is entering her third year supervising the War Cry. Thompson was born in Michigan and moved often in her childhood, before settling into Florida. Since childhood, Thompson has always had a passion for writing and reading mystery stories. Dissecting stories was what she found the most interesting. Agatha Christie and Nancy Drew are just a few of the stories that she loved as a child. In high school she was a part of the journalism program as the opinions editor. After high school she got accepted into Virginia Commonwealth University with a major in English and a minor in writing before starting a career in law. After becoming a mom, she became interested in teaching developing brains and decided to shift careers and begin teaching. Thompson also has an interest in travel as she has explored 15 different countries, studied abroad in England and learned seven different languages. Thompson also has three cats that she rescued. Thompson has an extensive background in writing but notes how much appreciation she has for the War Cry program at Jupiter High School. “I love warcry. On the worst day coming into the classroom, the staff just lifts me up,” Thompson said. “I’m inspired by the staffers, I get teary watching them. Just a great group.”
