From September 15th to October 15th, it’s National Hispanic Heritage Month.  National Hispanic Heritage Month is annually celebrated to recognize the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements for the United States.  Each day, we will share an important figure within the community to you.  Today we celebrate Francisco Pizarro.  Francisco Pizarro was an explorer, soldier and conquistador best known for conquering the Incas and executing their leader, Atahuapla. He was born around 1474 in Trujillo, Spain. As a soldier, he served on the 1513 expedition of Vasco Núñez de Balboa, during which he discovered the Pacific Ocean.

Calling all creators! There is officially less than 1 month left to submit to Inkwell’s semester 1 literary and artistic magazine! The theme is nature. Nature, both chaotic and beautiful, has proven a valuable inspiration source for many creators. Whether you choose to praise it, be astonished by it, recoil from it, or find comfort in it, we want your pieces this semester to be inspired by human nature or mother nature. The submission deadline is October 12th. Scan the QR code for the submission form, and join the Google Classroom for more information (code: 3wnjplb).  Submit your pieces for a chance to be featured.
