Fourteen members of the Computer Science Honor Society competed this past Saturday in the Suncoast High School Programming Competition. Congratulations to our top ten winners! Lucas Groves and Saif Lalani came in four place, in fifth place were Evan Fanberg and Vincent Nguyen, and coming in seventh place were Chase Wasalaski and Elijah Cudak.

 

The JROTC Robotics Team took second place overall in their first workshop/scrimmage competition at Coral Glades high school on December 9th in Broward County. Let’s congratulate them on an outstanding job!

 

The Jupiter JROTC marksmanship sharpshooters also competed this past Saturday.  They set their sights on taking the SUPCUP held at Atlantic High School.  The marksmanship sharpshooters came in at an impressive third place. Congratulations to the whole team.

Spirit week is here, sadly followed by mid term exam week, but let’s focus on the fun.  Today is dress like your favorite holiday character.  Tomorrow is holiday mayhem, and on Friday be sure to wear your class colors.

 

The Jupiter High School Dance Academy presents its first, annual winter showcase on Thursday, December 21st in the JHS auditorium. Tickets can be purchased via Go Fan dot com. Doors open at 5pm and the show starts at six! We hope to see you there!

There’s a mandatory baseball meeting for anyone who wants to play baseball in the spring for Jupiter High School.  It will be on Tuesday, December 19th at 3pm in the media center.  See Coach Mook for any issues or concerns in room 6-215.

 

The next tennis meeting date is January 9th. This meeting is Mandatory if you plan on trying out for the 2024 season.  Your paperwork needs to be submitted through AKTIVATE no later than January 9th or you will not be able to try out.  Tryouts begin on Tuesday January 16th.

Anyone interested in joining the boy’s weightlifting team, come to the mandatory informational meeting today, December 13th in front of the weightroom right after school. See Coach Fleury with any questions! We’ll see you there!

 

Come play beach volleyball tomorrow, December 14th at Jupiter Community Park with the co-ed beach volleyball club! No experience necessary.

The Spearit Shop is holding a Holiday sale through Dec 19. Buy a hoodie and get a shirt 50% off.  Bring your cash to lunch and stock up on your SpearIt wear.  

 

Also available in the SpearIt Shop, DECA is selling candy bags for the holidays.  The bags cost $2 a bag or 3 for $5. And don’t forget DECA members, your next meeting will be today, December 13 during Lunch A and B.  Delicious treats and hot chocolate will be served.

Celebrate the holidays with the JHS Christian League tomorrow morning at 7:10am in Portable 3. Come get a piece of birthday cake while song, praise and fellowship is shared.  Let’s come together and enjoy the season!

 

Want to help spread the holiday spirit? Cook and Bake club has the option for you! Now through December 20 bring any unused items to the culinary room 2-114! We are accepting anything from cake mix, to clothes, to hygiene supplies! Come donate now to get community service hours! It’s only one item for one hour.

Letters for Rose has their next general meeting tomorrow, December 14th, after school in Mrs. Ellis’s room (4-118). You can participate in a holiday-themed letter workshop for service hours! All community service sheets for previous letters written will also be available for pickup at this meeting. For more information, join LFR’s Google Classroom with the code p6ic76o.

 

The infectious diseases prevention club will have their next meeting today during the lunches.  For lunch A, the meeting will be room 4-118 and during lunch B, they will meet in room 6-215. They’ll be making posters for community service hours, learning about RSV all while having snacks with friends.

The Green Team has a community service project available to earn those needed service hours.  They are looking for volunteers to help plant trees and clean the Perry J. Cohen Wetland Laboratory today from 3pm to 5pm.  If you have any questions, see Ms. Thornton.

Today is the last day the Mental Health Awareness club is handing out club tee-shirts after school in Mrs. Guzicks room. If you have attended five or more club meetings or events, stop by to get your free shirt! Shirts can also be purchased for seven dollars, payable by cash or check.

Don’t forget your pets this holiday season.  Pupcakes and More are selling dog bandanas and cat toys.  Please stop by room 7-110 to come shop.  Cat toys are three dollars.  Dog bandanas are three dollars for a Small, four dollars for a Medium size,  five dollars for a Large, and six dollars for those extra large pups. Our students work hard making these items, so please come support the ESE department.

We’ve been talking about all the holiday drives JHS has been offering for weeks now.  All of them are ending their drives this Friday.  So here we go.  DECA is asking for shoes.  You can drop off the shoes at the SpearIt Shop.  The Future Leaders of the U. N. are looking for hygiene items.  Those can be dropped off in Mr. Alderich’s room in 4-217.  Women in STEM is also collecting hygiene products for Hannah’s Home.  They have several locations to drop off, either in the SGA room, room 5-213, 7-101, or in room 7-209.   SGA Is hosting a sports equipment drive. Bring new or unused sports equipment to room 4-106.  All items will be donated to children at a local elementary school.

Helping Hands is working with Chasin a Dream Foundation for their toy drive.  Donations can be dropped off in Portable 15.  JHS has a toy drive with Toys for Tots, donation drop off is at room 1-115. There’s also Toys for Teens being given to the Place of Hope.  Bring those donations to the front office.  Sunshine Federation is helping out Jupiter Middle School with their toy drive.  Drop off is either in the atrium or in Ms. Misewish’s room in 5-215.  Lastly the Spanish Honor Society is hosting a drive for items ranging from canned food to bicycles.  You can help them out by donating over in portable 29.  And yes, all clubs and organizations are offering community service hours for your help.
