The Warriors charity dodgeball tournament has been rescheduled to February second.  If you are interested in getting a team of 8 people together to play in the Warrior Ball tournament, the cost is $10 per player. All proceeds will go directly to Nicklaus Children’s Hospitals. Have one player from your team stop by Mr. Hammett’s room in portable 1 to pick up the team packet.  Once your captain has the eighty dollars and the packet, he or she will drop off everything to portable 1 by February first.

First Priority will be meeting today in their new location: the gym lobby during lunches A and B.  Please note the new location: the gym lobby.  Come out to hear an inspirational message and enjoy a time of Christian fellowship.

Morgan’s Message Club will have its first meeting of 2024 tomorrow, January 26 during both lunches.  The topics discussed will be New Years Resolutions, winter sports playoffs, and dealing with defeat.

Mark your calendars to go to BurgerFi on Friday to support the drama club!  Twenty percent of the proceeds will go to the drama department to support their competitions and productions. Please mention the drama club at checkout!

There is a school-wide blood drive happening tomorrow in the auditorium. Anyone 16 years and older can sign up. You’ll receive snacks, pizza, a t-shirt, and lots of community service hours! But more than that, you’ll be saving lives! You can sign up at lunch in the courtyard or in Ms. Ellis’ Room 4118.

The JHS Warrior Volunteers are having a book drive benefiting the local children’s hospitals from now to the 26th. There will be one service hour given per book for time spent collecting items with a maximum of ten hours. Donations can be dropped off in room 4-114.  Please include your name, student number, and grade level on all donations.

They are looking for clothes, but please no undergarments, socks, shoes, or anything with holes or stains.  Label the bag with your name, student number, grade and total items donating.  The cap is thirty items, and three items equal one hour of community service. Drop the clothes off on the back table in room 1-155. See Ms. Sparks if you have any questions.

Planning to drive to school next year?  Here are the criteria you must meet in order to get a pass.  You must be a junior or senior with a valid Florida driver’s license.  Class of 2025 must have a GPA of 2.5 while the class of 2026 must have a GPA of 3.0.  You can only have ten or less absences and five or less tardies in this second semester.  Of course, no discipline referrals from this school year, no outstanding obligations, and you must have earned your twenty community service hours by March.  The parking website will be updated by February with application process details.

It’s Celebrate Literacy Week in Florida! This celebration is designed to raise awareness about the importance of reading and to inspire Florida’s students and families to make reading part of their daily routines.

((MORGAN))

Students who read independently have greater reading comprehension, verbal fluency and general knowledge than those who do not. They become better readers, score higher on achievement tests in all subject areas, and have greater content knowledge than their non-reading peers.  With that, today’s question is what is your favorite book of all time?

For today’s pic of the day, we have Sofia, Lila, and Colleen with WJUP-TV crew member, Everett.

((MORGAN))

They like to play sports. Sofia and Lila like to play volleyball, colleen likes to play football, and Everett is a hockey player.
