Barnes & Noble has a newly opened bookstore in Tequesta, Fla. Located at 151 U.S. Highway 1 in the Tequesta Shoppes, the 13,000-square-foot store aims to serve both retirees and young families in the area.
On March 26, 2025, Barnes & Noble officially opened its newest bookstore, marking Tequesta village’s first bookstore in over a decade. The grand opening with over 100 readers attending the event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by author Jasmine Mas, who signed copies of her bestselling novel, Blood of Hercules.
“A lot of people are coming in and sharing that it’s a really important piece to have in the Tequesta and Jupiter area,” Emily Sardinha, Barnes & Noble employee, said.
This store, unlike other Barnes & Noble’s, has a modern style. The store offers a curated selection of books organized by genre, comfortable brown leather chairs, a children’s play area, office supplies and music materials.
“I love the new layout. It’s not that confusing, and it honestly feels kind of homey,” Sophia Barrera, junior reading enthusiast said.
While this location does not include a café, customers can find local coffee shops nearby within the 2-square-mile village like Oceana Coffee and Perk Coffee House, which include a wide variety of coffee types and pastries.
“They didn’t include a Starbucks because they really didn’t want to take away from those local businesses since a lot of the coffee shops are small businesses,” Sardinha said.
The Tequesta location is one of four new Barnes & Noble bookstores which were set to open in March around the country, alongside new stores in Grand Rapids, Michigan; Huntsville, New York and Gainesville, Virginia. The Tequesta location is Barnes & Noble’s sixth store in Palm Beach County, reflecting the company’s strategy to open smaller, community-focused stores.
“Tequesta may be a small community, but they have shown outsized enthusiasm since we announced this new Barnes & Noble,” James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble, said. “Our Tequesta booksellers have been hard at work filling the shelves and curating displays with local readers at top of mind.”
Barnes & Noble hosts regular events, such as weekly children’s storytime sessions, and are planned to engage the community. Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m..
