Mean Girls is Jupiter High School’s drama program’s 2025-2026 musical. It was featured Mar. 13 and Mar. 14 at Jupiter High School.
This musical was originally a movie, but in 2024, came back as a movie musical.
The cast is an array of many different grade levels that auditioned earlier in the year for their current roles. The process included an initial audition and call backs for students that Ms.Knight, drama teacher and director, believed would be the best fit for the musical.
The cast list: Grace Pessagno (Janis), Daniel Domingo Lopez (Damian), Belle Mays (Cady), Alee Matrunola (Regina), Jack Pracey (Aaron), Ava Scotten (Karen), Brunette Lopez Salinas (Grechen), Landon Schwarz (Kevin G.), Christina Taryin (Mrs. George), Tanner Ralph (Ms. Norbury), Arriella Mckay (Lizzie (Showgirls)/Marymount Captain), Natasha Olivenvia (Sonja/Glen Coco/Dance Team Girl 1), Layla Morgan (Sabrina/Dance Team Girl 2), Keyla Tambris (Morgan/Mathletes Moderator/Dance Team Girl 3), Lucia Riddle (Teary Girl/Dance Team Girl 4), Nathan Keller (Mr. Heron/Br. This year’s musical is a change in theme from the prior musical, Little Shop of Horrors and the 2023-2024 musical, Into the Woods. Little Shop of Horrors featured a larger than life human eating plant who caused chaos on Skid Row, a poverty stricken downtown area that is the main setting in the musical. Into the Woods focused on common fairytale stories intertwining into one main story following a husband and wife in their journey in the woods.
The plot of Mean Girls follows the main character Cady (Belle Mays) as she starts her new life after moving from Africa to the United States (US). She struggles to adjust from being homeschooled to going to a public high school.
The musical will consist of two halves with an intermission between, allowing the audience and actors to prepare for the second act.
The students at JHS have been working for the past few months to produce a play balanced with music, custom costumes and memorized lines allowing for a seamless production.
Many students are taking on multiple roles at once to fill out the characters. This involves outfit changes, more line memorization and remembering different blocking for each character.
“I am Mrs. Heron, Tyler, Shane Omen and Jason W. I am also Cady’s understudy,” Ava Christie, junior in drama at JHS, said.
Blocking is when actors and actresses are in specific choreographed locations on stage. In these spots they also have specific body movements to complete.
An understudy is when a separate actor or actress memorizes lines and choreography for an additional role in the musical in case the main actor or actress can’t perform.
“My favorite memory is the first run through because we get to see everyone’s character choices,” Christie said.
