The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has taken over the media with their up and coming fight card, UFC Freedom 250, which will be taking place June 14, 2026.
This fight card is attracting attention not only because some of the best athletes in the UFC will be competing, but because the fight will happen on the White House Lawn.
The UFC commissioner, Dana White, has been working tightly with President Donald Trump to make this fight happen.
“We [Dana White and Donald Trump] were at a fight, and [Donald Trump] leans over and says we should do a fight at the White House, and I said, ‘Yes, yes we should,’” Dana White said in an interview with Fox News while talking about the motivation behind this fight.
UFC fights have taken place internationally, in locales including Brazil, the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia and Dubai.
The White House fight is headlined by a lightweight brawl between Ilia Topuria of Georgia and Justin Gaethje (U.S.), with Topuria favored as he looks to defend his title.
Additional big name fights on the card include a heavyweight battle between Josh Hokit (U.S.) and Derrick Lewis (U.S.).
“Now that Derrick Lewis is on the fight card, I’m looking forward to that fight. [They are] two really good fighters that are going to try to knock each other out. It should be the best fight on the card,” Devin Clark, former UFC heavyweight fighter, said.
The UFC will be giving away 85,000 free tickets in the nearby Ellipse Park. Free tickets will give an opportunity for fans to see this historical fight for free and see their favorite fighters.
“My favorite part of being in the UFC was the really young fans that got excited to see me,” Cody Stamann, former UFC bantamweight fighter, said.
With the UFC being an international organization there are seven international fighters on this fight card and only six American fighters. A major international-versus-U.S. matchup on this card is Diego Lopes (Brazil) in a featherweight scrap against Steve Garcia (U.S.).
“American fighters are going to have a really tough night. A lot of matchups favor international guys,” Cody Stamann , former UFC bantamweight fighter, said.
UFC Freedom 250 is a new milestone in UFC history. There have been numerous international fights in international locales, such as when Conor McGregor (Ireland) fought Diego Brandao (Brazil) in Dublin, Ireland.
But never has a UFC fight card been staged on the front lawn of the White House.
This historic event will aim to bring in many new fans and entertain old fans by giving away free tickets while having an amazing fight card event in this historic destination.
“The White House card will be a cool experience, it’s something new,” Donte Johnson, UFC middleweight fighter said.
