Boys and girls golf start winning season

Jupiter High’s boys and girls golf began their 2022 season strong on Aug.15.

The boys golf team is undefeated this season with seven wins and the girls are just behind them with four wins and one loss.

“It’s already a successful season and we have potential to do really good things this year,”  Bruce Wasserman, boys head coach, said. “Hopefully, we go to states and for this team, the sky’s the limit.”

Danny Green, junior, believes they will make it deep into the season.

“Our team is very close and we have a top-five team in the state. We should definitely make it to states,” Green said.

Even though the season just started, Wasserman has high expectations for his team.

“We’ve had a very successful beginning,” Wasserman said. “This is a really good team, the best team that I’ve ever had, potentially,”

Emily Valentine, former golf player at Jupiter High, is now coaching girls golf and is ready for the season.

“The team is ready, prepared and excited,” Valentine said. “We expect to perform well in districts, make it to regionals and give it a run at states.”

The team is getting ready for states, already working together and feeling like a family.

“I think the whole team is just a group of friends. We’re starting to get [closer], we have a really good shot at states,” Helena Dlabik, sophomore, said.

Valentine isn’t only excited about states but also coaching a hard working team.

I love coaching the girls because they bring so much passion and determination,” Valentine said. “This year, we have some promising young freshmen and a few experienced upperclassmen who are leaders both on the golf course and off.”
