Students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School evacuate campus with help from local officials and law enforcements.

At 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 14, 2018, a former student of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. opened fire on the campus with over 3,000 students present.

The shooter was identified as 19-year-old Nikolas de Jesus Cruz, a student recently expelled for misconduct and behavioral issues.

Cruz was believed to be the only person responsible for the attack; however, the motive has yet to be identified. He was arrested while escaping the campus disguised as a JROTC student.

Cruz was carrying an AR-15-style semi-automatic rifle and was suspected of carrying an additional handgun. However, officials have not confirmed the suspicions.

Authorities reported 14 minor injuries, five critical injuries and 17 dead.

Nearby school districts sent out recorded messages expressing their concern and discontent with the situation at hand.
