Basketball season is back, and Jupiter High’s teams are ready for another successful year. Nov. 26 marked the first game for the girls’ team, and if it’s anything like their previous season, the girls will be headed to the playoffs. The boys began their regular season Nov. 27 and are poised for another victorious run.

Start this season off strong, the girls won the first game of the season against Cardinal Newman with a score of 41-15.

“I’m excited for the season to start, we as a team have been working hard with conditioning and even practice over the break so that we are in the best shape to start off the new season,” Samara Newman, captain of the girls’ basketball team, said.

Newman is the only senior on the girls’ varsity basketball team and is excited to lead her teammates to victory.

Both the boys and girls have dedicated this season to practicing extra hard to exceed their wins from last season. With a combination of regular conditioning and learning new plays, both teams are committed staying in top shape.

“Practice is necessary for our team to keep improving. All of the boys have been putting in the work to make sure this season is a success,” Trent Webb, senior and captain of the boys’ varsity team, said.

The boys also won their first game of the season against Cardinal Newman, beating them by a score of 61-49.

To cheer on the boys, the Warrior Dance Team will participate in all home games, dancing during the halftime show. The Dance Team just returned from marching in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Nov. 22, so basketball fans are in for a good show.
