Jupiter High students gear up for midterms after year hiatus

Last school year, students were spared from their usual middle-of-the-year exams because of the prevalence of distance learning and the COVID-19 pandemic as a whole. Now, Jupiter High students are gearing up to take midterms after a year hiatus.

“I don’t remember the last time I’ve taken midterms before,” Kohl Hobbs, Jupiter High senior said. “[I’m] kind of stressing about these ones coming up.”

Although Hobbs is stressed, he is staying positive about exams.

“I have the mindset to succeed at everything I do,” Hobbs said.

To put it in perspective: seniors have not taken midterm exams since their sophomore year, while sophomores never have at all.

“Everybody makes it seem like a big deal, so I’m a little bit stressed, but I think I’ll be fine,” Hayley Jackson, Jupiter High sophomore, said.

Certain teachers are giving their students time to prepare in class.

“You got to take advantage of that,” Michael Clevenger, Jupiter High senior, said.

Other students are studying outside of the classroom.

“I have to study, I have my hardest exam first,” Chase Baxter, Jupiter High sophomore, said.

Other students are banking on the weekend to get in their studying.

“I haven’t really studied enough, but I’ll do that over the weekend,” Hannah Lucas, Jupiter High Freshman, said.
