ATTENTION SENIORS If you have NOT been measured for your graduation cap and gown, Herff-Jones will be here on campus this week on Thursday, March 24th. You can find Herff-Jones in the cafeteria during both lunches to take your cap and gown measurements!

 

The Carson Scholars Fund scholarship program awards students who have embraced high levels of academic excellence and community service with $1,000 college scholarships. The Ben Carson Reading Project provides funding to schools to build and maintain Ben Carson Reading Rooms – warm, inviting rooms where children can discover the joy of independent leisure reading. Please join us and congratulate Sydnie Grubba who will receive a $1000 scholarship award from the Carson Scholars Fund toward her college education. 

 

THE SIMON BAKER SCHOLARSHIP has opened for applications. Students need to join Google Classroom in order to fill out and submit the application. The code is lfrxqn4, if you have any questions, reach out to Ms. Jalm. All JHS Seniors are welcome to apply. The deadline to submit is April 15 at 11:59 pm

 

SGA NEWS

THE TEACHER OF THE WEEK is Coach JD! He is not only a very cool math teacher who strives to help his students learn and always makes learning math fun, but he is also the coach of our amazing warrior boys basketball team. Congratulations Coach JD and thank you for all your hard work!

THE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK is Gregory Tulloch. Greg is a senior on the varsity baseball team. He always performs at his best in the classroom and on the baseball field. Thank you Greg for inspiring students and teachers at this school!

THIS WEEK IN SPORTS is also our last home boys’ weightlifting meet. Thursday is the girls’ lacrosse senior recognition against Gardens. On Friday, the baseball team will host Vestavia Hills High School (VHHS), near Birmingham, Alabama. It will be a doubleheader with Jupiter playing the first game, and Stoneman Douglas playing the second.

 

COME TO THE LETTERS FOR ROSE MEETING! If you’re not already a part of the club, it’s not too late to join! One hour of community service will be given per letter you write! We will be discussing officer positions for the 2022-2023 school year. Our meeting will be held on Thursday, March 24th in Ms. Ellis’s room 4-118. ESOL STUDENTS & FAMILIES Mark your calendar! We will have a family information night for you and your families at 6 p.m. on March 30. The meeting will be virtual, so make sure to join our Google Classroom for ESOL families so that you can get the meeting code the night of the meeting.  We will discuss a lot of important topics, such as how to be successful in school, passing the reading test for graduation and so much more! See you then!

SPRING FOOTBALL Anyone interested in playing spring football, make sure you have a completed athletic packet on file with Ms. Jalm prior to April 15. You can find the athletic packet in Student Services, or online at the athletics website. FUTURE LEADERS OF THE UN  The club is collecting hygiene items for the less fortunate in our community. Donate travel-size shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, hand sanitizer, tampons, and pads. The drive ends this Friday, March 25. Please drop your donations in the boxes in Ms. Aldrich’s room 7- 206. Community service hours will be awarded for time spent organizing and collecting your donations. Members of the club will be offered double the hours as long as they have attended one meeting. Please do not donate used or opened items. Write your name, grade, and student ID number on your donations to ensure that you get your community service hours.
