With summer approaching, many Jupiter High School (JHS) students are looking for volunteer opportunities. These opportunities are important as they help teach students time management and responsibility, all while establishing a sense of community through relationships formed with people who share similar interests.
Here is a list of volunteer opportunities in Palm Beach County that offer experiences to help fill your time and give back to the community this summer.
Summer Camps:
In Palm Beach County, there are many summer camp opportunities for high school students that include the roles of camp counselor and assistant counselor. These camps provide the opportunity to build connections and grow in leadership positions.

- Calvary Church Kids Summer Camp
- Edna W. Runner Education Center
Camps at Jupiter Community Center (JCC) Include:
- Youth Day Camp at Jupiter Community Center
- Fishing and SHARK-FEST Camp

“I would definitely recommend this experience [working at a summercamp] to someone if you are good with kids… I learned a lot from seeing different people’s perspectives on how they experience camp,” Noah Malloy, Camp Shalom counselor, said.
Volunteer Opportunities In Jupiter:
There are many other ways to gain community service experience this summer that don’t involve working at a summer camp. Here are some places looking for volunteers:
El Sol is looking for help both during the school year and over the summer.
“On an average day, volunteers welcome employers, make and serve food, teach classes and help with the administrative needs of El Sol,” El Sol stated.
Furry Friends is a Non-Kill animal rescue located in Jupiter. They often ask for volunteers helping to make the shelter animals feel safe and loved. To volunteer they require helpers to be at least 18, but they have youth programs (https://ffhumane.org/under16/) for those who are under 18 that include awareness programs and fundraising activities.
Jupiter Medical Center offers a unique program for high schoolers that help students explore the healthcare field to see if that is a career they want to pursue. This program requires students to volunteer at least two hours a week, must be aged 15-18 and has a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Friends of Jupiter Beach is a non profit organization that hosts beach cleanups and community events in Jupiter. The third Sunday of each month they meet up for a beach clean up at Ocean Cay Park. They are looking for students who want to get involved to help keep Jupiter clean.
