Meet the Athlete: Record-Breaking Brianna

On Sept. 12, senior captain of the girl’s golf team at Jupiter High, Brianna Farrell, broke a school record when she shot 32 in a tri-match against Suncoast and William T. Dwyer High School at BallenIsles Country Club.

“On the first hole I missed a three-foot putt for a birdie, the second hole I missed a six-foot putt for a birdie and missed a nine-foot for an eagle on the third hole,” said Farrell. “The 32 was amazing, but I know I could’ve done better.”

Farrell began playing golf four years ago. In January, she decided she wanted to play golf in college, so she participated in various tournaments such as the Women’s Amateur, the Women’s Junior Amateur and the North South at Pinehurst to gain college exposure.

“That set the stage for me to get a scholarship and the opportunity to play in college; dedication and hard work always pays off,” said Farrell.

Last year, Farrell helped lead the team to the State Championship for the second time in a row. Her hard work and leadership ability didn’t go unnoticed.

“Bri was chosen as captain because of her hard work,” said Coach Teresa Clement. “She is a kind person who tries to unite the team and be a good example.”

Not only does Farrell’s coach praise her for her work ethic and attitude but also her teammates.

“I couldn’t be prouder of Bri and all of her hard work and commitment to our team; she is not only nice to be around but she always shoots low to get us the win,” said sophomore Alle Galla. “Bri is more than a teammate, she’s a friend; I look at Bri and see someone who will never let her team down and will never give up…she will do great things at FAU.”
